Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 5/32 inches (2.94 cm) in width overall blazoned as follows: Gules, on a chevron Or a wrench Sable fesswise surmounted by a wheel of eight spokes of the first, charged with a bezant, bearing a gutt de poix; on a chief of the second, a tribal salmon naiant of the third garnished Gules. Attached below is a Black scroll inscribed "VICTORY THROUGH SUSTAINMENT" in Gold.

Symbolism
The wrench signifies maintenance support. The wheel represents the unit's transportation and movement control mission. The oil drop upon the yellow disc denotes petroleum support handled by the battalion. The tribal salmon symbolizes the Pacific Northwest Native American culture and the location of the unit.

The distinctive unit insignia was approved effective 17 September 2006.
